Distinguished Alumni Award - Dr. W. Neal Burnette ’66
A biomedical research scientist, Dr. Burnette developed Western blotting, a ubiquitous diagnostic and biology laboratory technique. He was one of the first scientists at Amgen and led programs resulting in recombinant vaccines for hepatitis B, pertussis, and cholera. A longtime US Army Reserve officer, Colonel Burnette was recalled to active duty after 9/11 and served as the medical deputy of the joint services chemical and biological defense program at the Pentagon. Valuable Alumni Award - Jan Tucker Scully ’79
Mrs. Scully’s impact upon the Alumni Association has been significant. She was a member the National Alumni Board and the Fort Worth Chapter Alumni Board before serving as president of the TCU Alumni Association from 2011 to 2013. She also represented the association as a member of the TCU Board of Trustees. She has been class reunion chair and a member of The Campaign for TCU Committee. Mrs. Scully is a Centurion of the Addison & Randolph Clark Society and a member of the Chancellor’s Council.
Alumni Service Award - Brian E. Rosson ’82
Mr. Rosson has made his mark on the Alumni Association. He was a member of the National Alumni Board from 1997 to 2004 and the Permian Basin Chapter Alumni Board from 1997 to 2007. He also has served the greater university as a member of the Addison & Randolph Clark Society Board and the Frog Club Board. Mr. Rosson participated on the Permian Basin Regional Council and assisted TCU’s Office of Admission with student recruiting as a member of LINKS (Leaders in a Network for Key Students).
Outstanding Young Professional Award - Capt. Emily Ann Grieser ’03
A captain in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Grieser holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology and is a licensed psychologist. She currently is engaged in a post-doctoral clinical health psychology fellowship at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Previously, she was chief of the Traumatic Stress Response Team and a staff psychologist at the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. She has been recognized as Company Grade Officer of the Quarter twice and has been the recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Distinguished Student Award - Kimberly K. Hyde ’13
Ms. Hyde will graduate in May with Bachelor of Arts degrees in chemistry and biology. A participant in TCU’s pre-medicine track, she is president of AED pre-med honor society and has been accepted by five medical schools. Ms. Hyde is a student in the John V. Roach Honors College, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board, and is the recipient of a number of scholarships. She has studied abroad at the University of Canterbury and was recognized with the TCU International Study Award. As LEAPS service site coordinator, she worked with 36 nonprofit sites and 1,200 TCU volunteers. Among many other contributions to the University, Ms. Hyde served as an orientation volunteer and Monday at TCU speaker.
