As part of the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Program, the TCU Chapter hosts a lecture by Alexander J. Field at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 in Smith Hall, rm. 104. Prof. Field is the Michel and Mary Orradre Professor of Economics at Santa Clara University and author of A Great Leap Forward: 1930s Depression and U.S. Economic Growth.

He will speak on “Prosociality and the Military,” noting the behavioral foundations of effective military units and how changes in military training in the last half century have overcome the reluctance of infantrymen to fire on the enemy.
