TCU MAc grads beat out all the other accounting graduates from universities in Texas with a 71.78% success rate in passing the Uniform CPA Exam www.cpa-exam.org, during the July-August 2009 test window, according to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy www.tsbpa.state.tx.us.
UT-Austin, with one of the largest and oldest Master of Accounting programs, came in second, as they did last year, with a pass rate of 71.33%.
These scores are considerably higher than the national average of 45%, and higher than the Texas average of 55%.
TCU MAc graduates have consistently ranked high on the CPA exam since the program’s inception five years ago, even though TCU is one of the only schools in the state that does not offer a CPA review course as part of the graduate curriculum. “These continued high passing rates reflect the quality of our students, the quality of the education that they receive here at TCU, and their hard work and commitment to pass the CPA exam before they start their professional careers” said Bob Vigeland, accounting professor and co-director of the MAc program.
