
Prof. Rebecca Sharpless, expert on southern women's history
AddRan College of Liberal Arts presents the third annual Distinguished Faculty Lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 11 in Palko Hall 130. The speaker this year is Rebecca Sharpless (history & geography) whose topic is “Remembering Past Each Other: Idella Parker, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and Memory at Cross Creek.” A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Rebecca, a specialist in southern women’s history, has written several books, including
Fertile Ground, Narrow Choices: Women on Texas Cotton Farms, 1900-1940 and
Cooking in Other Women’s Kitchens: Domestic Workers in the South, 1865-1960.
