The play follows the exploits of the Shaughnessy family. Artie Shaughnessy, a zookeeper and struggling songwriter, hopes to make it big in Hollywood, but his dreams are complicated by a curious assortment of people, including an insane, pill-addled wife named Bananas, a pushy, Hollywood-hungry mistress named Bunny, an AWOL son with his own ideas about the Pope’s visit, and a trio of beer-drinking nuns. Guare’s absurd take on life displays the neuroses of society’s obsession with celebrity and the blurring of fame and religion.
Cast members include: Kelsey Craig, Bradley Gosnell, Alex Herring, Mark Laird, Marla Massey, Kelsey Milbourn, Shelby Ringdahl, Laura Saladino, Robert Slack, Mitchell Stephens, and Gabe Whitehurst. Members of the production staff include: director T.J. Walsh, scenic and costume designer Brian Clinnin, lighting designer Angelina Vyushkova, and stage manager Bonnie Hanvey.
