Health Fair Wednesday, April 20
Published: 4/11/2011

Twenty-eight students in the Accelerated BSN Track are working with three faculty members to produce an event dedicated to the well being of TCU’s faculty and staff. The third annual Employee Health Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Special Event Center of the Recreation Center (West
entrance).

Vendors at the Fair include Albert Gavan Health Clinic, Balance Massage Health and Wellness, LA Fitness, Life Gift, Lifeline CPR, Place for Mom, Tarrant County Public Health and Tarrant County Mental Health, to name a few. The clinics represented at the health fair offer low-cost or free services.

The students will set up informational booths on diabetes/foot care, cardio health, smoking and tobacco cessation, stress, women’s health and more. They also will raffle gifts generously donated by area merchants throughout the event, including a Wii Fit Bundle, four days and three nights at the Wyndham La Cascada Resort on the Riverwalk in San Antonio and complimentary teeth whitening, among others.

The health fair is co-sponsored by Human Resources and the Wellness Committee. The Accelerated BSN students and faculty members have seven days to put this event together, and it is a graded project.

The Accelerated BSN track is for students who already have a bachelor’s degree in another field. It offers full-time study over four consecutive semesters (summer, fall, spring and summer); builds on and reinforces a broad foundation of liberal studies; includes a professional nursing residency during the last semester; and provides a solid grounding in practice through partnerships with regional health care systems.
