The campaign is part of a Schieffer School required strategic communication capstone course, led by Dr. Wendy Macias. The course is designed like an advertising agency with each student assigned a primary job function. The team named themselves “Green Revolution” to reflect the passion and change needed for sustainable causes.
“The research shows that sustainability is important to students and the TCU community,” said Macias. “This is a great way to involve students in something environmentally beneficial to the TCU campus with the added excitement and motivation involved with TCU’s football program.”
The EPA Game Day Challenge invites universities throughout the nation to compete in different sustainable competitions. TCU has selected to participate in the recycling challenge. TCU’s Physical Plant will measure the amount of uncontaminated recyclable materials at the TCU vs. CSU football game on Saturday, Nov. 19, and submit the results to the EPA.
Green Revolution hopes to boost awareness and participation in the 2011 EPA Game Day Challenge with their strategic communication campaign, including social media, recyclable advertisements (flyers), and the support from student and community volunteers.
