TCU purple gets slight makeover for TV
Published: 5/7/2012

The purple on TCU sports uniforms will be enhanced for our debut in the Big 12 Conference in September, according to Tracy Syler-Jones, vice chancellor for Marketing & Communication. Uniforms will have a slightly darker purple, embellished with an arched TCU logo that, in most cases, will appear without the athletic frog beneath it. Football helmets are the one exception, as both will continue to appear together.

The changes are being made to help with the ‘readability’ of the purple when TCU uniforms appear on television.  The slightly spread out letters of the arched logo will also make it stand out better.  Nike-produced merchandise will reflect these changes as well. The University will retain the original “royal purple” TCU is known for on products and materials produced by the University.

"As we continue to move toward becoming a great national university, it's important that we visually speak with one voice,” Syler-Jones explains. “Athletics hopes that the darker shade of purple and slightly spread letters will reinforce our brand on national TV as we enter the B12.”
