The TCU Board of Trustees, during their recent spring meeting, voted to bestow on Emmet G. Smith, retired faculty member in the TCU School of Music, an honorary Doctor of Music degree. The presentation will be during Commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12 in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

 

During Smith’s 45 years as professor of organ and church music at TCU, 18 students were awarded prestigious international scholarships for study abroad. Emeritus Professor Smith also was a performer, master class teacher, consultant and lecturer for universities, conservatories and churches throughout the United States and Europe.
