The TCU Victim Advocate Program will hold several events this month to raise awareness about domestic violence in Tarrant County. The program will team with SafeHaven, a local women’s shelter that provides emergency shelter and other services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

 

The TCU Victim Advocate Program provides campus and community resources for students, faculty and staff who are victims of crime. Their goal is to assist in the recovery process by providing confidential support and information immediately and throughout the healing process. Individuals victimized by a crime are encouraged to use the resources and support provided by the TCU Victim Advocate Program. The support program supports those who have experienced assault, relationship violence, sexual harassment, stalking, rape and more, whether the incident occurred during or before the victim's time at TCU.

 

The TCU Victim Advocate Program will hold several events to raise awareness through the month of October beginning with an art contest for Fort Worth ISD students called “Imagine no violence.” Today and tomorrow, contest winners will have their artwork displayed in the BLUU entryway. On Oct. 2, Telling Amy’s Story, a documentary sponsored by Verizon, will be presented in the BLUU ballroom. SafeHaven CEO will facilitate a discussion directly after the documentary. Resource tables will be available at this event. Starting Oct. 3, the contest artwork will be used in a traveling exhibit to raise awareness across TCU’s campus. All events will be open to local university students and faculty.
