Complete child care assessment survey by Wednesday


According to the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, nearly 12 million children under age 5 spend almost 40 hours in child care each week.  This is a telling statistic about the importance of having access to quality early child care.

 

 

Last week’s announcement campuswide announcement about the partnership with Camp Fire demonstrates TCU's commitment to improving access and overall quality of child care for our faculty and staff. If you will take this needs assessment survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WZLJFBT by Wednesday, Feb. 3 it will help us ensure the pilot program prioritizes issues based on your needs.

 

Why partner with Camp Fire on a Child Care Network Pilot? You may be picturing Blue Birds or Camp Fire Girls, but Camp Fire USA First Texas Council has grown and evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of families and children. As one of the oldest child and youth development agencies in North Texas, Camp Fire understands the importance quality child care has on the cognitive and social development of children.  Because the quality of care children receive in their earliest years can affect children for the rest of their lives, Camp Fire dedicated itself almost 20 years ago to the training, education and evaluation of those who care for young children.

 

 

In 2009, alone, Camp Fire provided professional training, education and support to 4,041 child care providers through 252 classes and workshops.  By equipping those who work in the care and education of our youngest children, the increased quality of a trained early child care provider impacted more than 36,000 children, infants through age five.

 

 

Additionally, Camp Fire has been the Resource and Referral Service in this region assisting families seeking child care for more than a decade.  Currently, the database houses thousands of licensed in home and child care centers.
