Guest speaker is Debra Dean, author of The Madonnas of Leningrad, published in 2006. The novel is based on actual events surrounding Russia's efforts to save the Hermitage museum and its artwork during the 900-day siege of Leningrad, which began in 1941.
A native of Seattle, Dean was an English and Drama major in college and worked in the New York and regional theater for a decade before settling back in the Northwest.
