The Family Business Seminar, hosted by the Neeley Entrepreneurship Center, will unwind the complexities of the work and personal relationships intertwined in family businesses, providing clear blueprints for conflict resolution and growing the business for the next generation.Led by renowned family business experts, the seminar will be held on Friday, April 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Colonial Country Club, with a reception following in the home of David Minor. Sam H. Lane, Ph.D., Aspen Family Business Group
Lane has more than 28 years experience helping family businesses achieve their long-term goals and ensure continued viability. He creates and implements individualized approaches to the unique challenges faced by family business enterprises. His goal is for family businesses to learn to work through their conflicts and challenges to maximize business goals and optimize family relationships. Lane focuses on succession planning, developing family boards, conflict resolution, strategic planning, team building, communication, management development, organizational analysis and development, recruitment and selection, and training.

 

 

David Minor, Neeley Entrepreneurship Center
Minor is the William M. Dickey Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Neeley Entrepreneurship Center, and teaches Managing the Emerging Venture. Minor achieved entrepreneurial success when he founded Minor’s Landscape Services in 1980. The company became an INC 500 award-winning enterprise and one of the largest and most respected in the landscape industry. In 1998, Minor harvested his business and teamed with ServiceMaster Inc. to consolidate the industry nationwide. As vice president of the newly formed landscape division, Minor helped lead the acquisitions and integration of more than $550 million in landscape division revenues.

 

 

Michael V. Bourland, Bourland, Wall & Wenzel, P.C.
Bourland is an attorney and founding shareholder of Bourland, Wall & Wenzel, P.C., a Fort Worth law firm. One of his primary areas of practice is family limited partnerships. Bourland travels throughout the U.S., speaking to bar associations and at universities. He is also a regular contributor to The New York Times, BusinessWeek and Money magazine.
